3 How to Sprout
For those who aren’t quite sure how to sprout grains, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Firstly, you can only sprout whole grains. This means that any sprouted bread will be definition contain a huge amount of extra benefits as compared with other bread – because it will contain the entire ‘germ’ of the bread and thereby all of the nutrition that it houses. This is as compared with those overly processed bread that most of us are used to eating from stores – which effectively remove the most important part of the bread and leave us with pretty much empty calories!
The actual sprouting process will involve soaking the grains in water, which will thereby increase the moisture content and neutralize the phytic acid. They won’t already be fully sprouted at this point, but you can already gain some benefits from them.
Then your grains get rinsed and placed inside a moist jar for one to five days. Again – the longer the better. You can actually eat these raw too!
