4 Another Red Sofrito Recipe
Let’s look at another example of a red, tomatoey sofrito recipe that you can make quickly and easily.
For this one, you will be taking one medium yellow onion, two large cloves of garlic, one large green pepper, three tablespoons of Spanish olive oil, a can of crushed tomatoes, and a teaspoon of paprika. The main difference here is that you are using the green pepper, which adds just a little variety to the flavor and makes for something a little bit different in a sea of juicy tomato.
There’s also slightly less olive oil, and some crushed tomatoes to help make up for the drier ingredients.
This is a healthy option for those trying to cut back on calories who might, therefore, want to reduce their intake of fatty oil. Keep in mind though, that oil itself is not actually bad for you. Recent studies show us that healthy saturated fats don’t actually cause us any harm – and in fact, they help with a number of different, important processes in the body such as the absorption of nutrients.
