Cinnamon can be such a good compliment to so many flavors if used sparingly, but there aren’t too many desserts that combine cinnamon with caramel. Maybe that’s because caramel tastes so good as it is, but the beautiful kick of cinnamon really turns this decadent treat into a whole new experience for the taste buds. Give it a try.
There isn’t really too much science in the method, simply add cinnamon into your caramel mixture as early as possible so that it infuses with the rest of the ingredients. Cinnamon likes to bind and coat where it can, and the liquid state of caramel gives it the perfect opportunity to do so. Once the caramel is hardened on the outside of your apples, the cinnamon may even add a sparkle to the finish, or you could cheat and throw in some edible glitter for good measure instead. Just a little trick there.
