3. Best Green Bean Casserole
What you need:
- 2 tbsp of unsalted butter
- ½ cup of diced yellow onion
- A large clove of minced garlic
- 2 cups of crimini mushrooms, chopped
- Tsp of salt
- ¼ cup of flour
- ½ cup of dry sherry
- ¾ cup of warm whole milk
- ¾ cup of warm half and half
- Tsp of Worcestershire
- 2 14.5 ounce cans of green beans, drained and dried
- 2 cups of French fried onions
To make:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking dish. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add in the garlic, onions, and mushrooms. Saute for about three minutes. Add in ½ tsp of salt and stir. Reduce heat and add in the flour. Slowly pour in the sherry and whisk. Add in the warm milk and half and half. Make sure to remove all lumps.
Bring to a boil and then simmer until thickened. Add in the Worcestershire sauce and the rest of the salt. Add in the green beans and stir until combined. Add in ½ cup of fried onions. Pour into the prepared baking dish. Top with remaining fried onions and ten bake until filling is bubbly and onions are a golden brown.
