
2. Shepherd’s Pie
Shepherd’s pie is also sometimes called cottage pie. Whatever you call it, this is a traditional English meal that is excellent for surviving those cold winters.
To make this one, you are first going to cook up your mince. Again, do this by simply frying some mince with some onion and potentially some garlic in a pan.
While you have a lot of tomato and Italian flavors in your bolognaise, this one is very clearly much more British and it comes across in the ingredients. Here, you’re going to add in some sweetcorn, some more beef stock, some carrot, some baked beans (about one tin for 4 people), and even some garden peas if you like!
Meanwhile, you’re also going to mash up some potatoes. Do this simply by cooking the potatoes on the hob and then using a masher or a whisker in order to make them light and fluffy. Take a baking dish and line the bottom with your mince mix. Now layer the potato on top and grate on some cheese. Place in an oven, and then cook on a high temperature until the top looks melted and crispy.
