Starting from that easy basis, we can then start to add whatever we like in order to make the mixture more interesting and delicious.
So let’s bulk up that ingredients list a little:
- 370g ground almonds
- 185g caster sugar
- 185g icing sugar (sifted)
- 1 large free-range egg (beaten)
- 1tsp vanilla extract
- 2tbsp brandy
- 1 tsp almond essence
- Juice from ½ a lemon
As a general rule when baking, you will normally mix the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients separately – so if you’re in a rush then this is an easy way to get a handle on a recipe!
So, in order to make this new recipe, you’re doing the precise same thing but adding those new ‘wet’ ingredients at the end. The result of this one is very similar, but it’s a little tastier and a little tangier.
