3 Orange Marzipan
Remember how in Italy they like to get creative by making their marzipan into tiny little fruits and then coloring them to resemble them?
This is something you can try at home too, and it’s not only a fantastic way to impress guests with something that looks really ornate and delicate, but it’s also a very fun activity with kids! Better yet, if you make your marzipan taste like the fruit it’s meant to be, it will be all the more impressive.
To make orange-flavored marzipan then, you will need:
- 175g caster sugar
- 175g icing sugar
- 250g ground almond
- Grated zest and juice one orange
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- Orange food coloring
Now you will once again mix together the dry ingredients, then stir in the zest and the eggs. Knead to mix the marzipan and make it nice and pliable. Then add the food coloring and shape into an orange!
