3. Nice ‘n’ Spicy Cajun Onion Rings
When you want a Cajun kick with your onion rings, try this easy recipe!
Preparation: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time: 5 Minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 4 sweet onions, chopped into thick rings
- 2 eggs beaten together
- 1 cup flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- Cayenne pepper (2 teaspoons)
- Cajun seasoning
- Enough oil for your deep fat fryer or pan (variable)
Method:
1. Separate the onions, eggs, and flour into three different bowls. In a fourth bowl, stir the bread crumbs and seasoning together.
2. Heat the oil to about 365F (180C) and start preparing your rings.
3. Each onion ring needs to be coated in the flour, the egg and then the bread crumb mixture.
4. Once fully covered, the onion rings can be dropped into the oil for about a minute each side, or until they appear golden.
5. Before serving, allow the onion rings to drain onto a rack or paper towels.
6. Serve with a cooling sauce, these rings will be spicy!
