2. Sweet Carolina Pulled Pork
This recipe is the traditional method for making pulled pork. This Southern-style recipe is sweet and satisfying, with plenty of flavors!
INGREDIENTS – PORK
2-tablespoons light brown sugar.
1-tablespoon kosher salt.
2-teaspoons smoked paprika.
1-teaspoon ground cumin.
1-teaspoon dried oregano
½-teaspoon chili powder.
Freshly cracked black pepper.
6-lbs. Bone-in pork shoulder.
INGREDIENTS – SAUCE
2-cups apple cider vinegar.
½-cup tomato ketchup.
¼-cup brown sugar.
1-clove minced garlic.
2-teaspoons kosher salt.
½-teaspoon red pepper flakes.
Freshly cracked black pepper.
METHOD
Preheat oven to 325F. Line a baking sheet with foil and set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl, add the salt, sugar, cumin, oregano, paprika, sugar, and chili powder – whisk to combine.
Season the pork with the rub and place on the baking tray. Cook in the oven for 3-hours until the pork is tender and you can shred it using two forks.
In a small saucepan, add the ketchup, vinegar, salt, sugar, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 10-minutes until thickened. Spoon sauce of pulled pork and serve.
