2. Turkey chili
If you are watching your weight or just want a healthier dish, give this classic turkey chili a try. To make this dish, you’ll need ancho chiles, a white onion, canned fire-roasted tomatoes, minced garlic, chicken broth, ground cinnamon, dried oregano, ground cumin, olive or safflower oil, salt, black pepper, a can of red kidney beans, and ground dark turkey meat. De-seed and de-stem the chiles and cut into large pieces.
Add them, tomatoes, broth, garlic, onion, oregano, cinnamon, cumin, oil, salt, and pepper to a blender. Puree ingredients until smooth. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and simmer for about 20 minutes. Cook the ground turkey and drain any grease. Pour in the tomato mixture, the beans, and some more broth. Mix together and simmer until slightly thickened – about 5 minutes. If you’d like, add additional salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and serve.
