Soup is a very useful meal to be able to dish up. Soup is highly comforting and has long been the ‘go-to’ option for people who are under the weather and need a warming meal. It lends itself really well to helping to heal a cold as well thanks to the fact that it is watery and runny – meaning that there’s nothing scratchy that has to force its way down a sore throat.

On top of all that, soup is also incredibly healthy and absolutely packed with healthy and nutritious ingredients. Soup is like a hot smoothie except with vegetables. That means you aren’t getting the damaging amounts of sugar that harm the benefits of smoothie, but at the same time, you do get the many advantageous elements of mixing lots of veg together. You can throw in protein too in the form of various meats and that way you can turn this into a great choice for athletes.

Soup is also a very convenient meal to make. It only requires a single pot, and it’s something that you can make on short notice. On top of all that, it keeps for a long time, and it allows you to use a whole host of leftovers. In all honesty, almost anything can be made into a soup!

But with that said, in this post we’re going to look at some of the most effective, delicious, and convenient soups you can make using a single stock as your basis. This can be a beef stock or a vegetable stock, but it’s going to serve as the cornerstone that ties the flavors together.

1. Cream of Tomato Soup

Tomato soup is one of the best-known kinds of soups and one of the most popular for anyone who eats this food often.

Tomato is very comforting and is incredibly high in antioxidants. These are compounds that travel around the body and counteract the damaging effects of ‘free radicals’ – which in turn are responsible for a whole host of negative health effects such as damage to the cells that can eventually form into cancers.

Tomato is also very tasty, being tangy and sweet at the same time. You’re going to make this by combining it with your vegetable or beef stock, which will give it that savory backbone to bring everything together.
The only thing even more delicious than tomato soup? Cream of tomato soup! This one will allow you to make your soup creamier, thicker, and richer. Add a little sugar too if you really want something moreish. Red pepper is also great here.
