When you go to a Chinese restaurant or any restaurant that serves food from the east, chances are you have come to expect fried rice to be on the menu. Fried rice is absolutely delicious when it is made the right way. While you could keep spending money on fried rice from your favorite takeout or delivery menu, there is a better way. You can make the perfect fried rice right in your kitchen. This dish is inexpensive to make and it is not as difficult to cook as some people might think. In fact, if you do it right you may even find that your homemade fried rice is even better than taking out. Here are some hints on how to properly create the perfect fried rice as well as a few recipes that you can try out instead of ordering off the takeout menu again.
1. Cold Rice
When it comes to making the perfect fried rice it is important to make sure that you plan ahead. You will want to cook the rice ahead of time and then refrigerate it. A fresh batch of rice that is warm or even slightly warm is not going to fry well when you put it in a hot pan. If you use warm rice it will result in sticky and soggy clumps forming, which is not what you want.
Leftover, refrigerated rice is a perfect choice. If you are in a hurry and are craving fried rice you can cook a fresh batch of rice and then spread it out onto a flat pan and place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or so. If you want it faster than that, place it in the freezer for ten or fifteen minutes. Just make sure that it is completely cold before you attempt to fry it.
