2. Grilled Steak with Jack Daniels Marinade
Take things to the next level with this Jack Daniels marinade made from bourbon and soy sauce. NY strip absorbs flavor reasonably well, and the marinade should penetrate the meat in less than 24-hours. Heat the grill and get ready for a world-class steak made at home!
INGREDIENTS
4-NY strip, grass-fed steaks, minimum 1-1/5-inches thick without the bone.
1/2-cup soy sauce.
1/2-cup Jack Daniel’s.
1-tablespoon coconut oil.
¼-cup brown sugar.
1-tablespoon Dijon mustard.
3-minced garlic cloves.
Fresh ground pepper and crushed Himalayan pink salt.
METHOD
Mix up the marinade in a small bowl. Add the Jack Daniel’s with the soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and mustard. Coat the steaks on each side and leave overnight to absorb the marinade into the meat.
It’s critical to remove the steaks from the fridge at least an hour before cooking to bring the meat up to room temperature. Grilling the steaks straight out of the refrigerator makes the meat turn tough while cooking.
Set up a grill, (charcoal or gas,) and shake the excess marinade from the steaks. Place on the rack and sear the first side for 30-seconds. Turnover and repeat. Turn the steak back and cook for a further 4-minutes – repeat.
