3. Chopped or Whole?
When it comes to the pecans that you use in your pecan pie it is really all about your personal preference. Most of the time people think that they have to use whole pecans or it is not really a pecan pie. However, chopped pecans work just as well and provide the same great pecan flavor that you are looking for. Most pecan pie recipes will call for whole pecans.
This does not mean that you cannot use chopped pecans instead. When it comes to the amount, just swap them evenly, for example, if the recipe calls for a cup of whole pecans simply swap in a cup of chopped pecans. It really does not make that much of a difference in the flavor of the pie. It is really all about what type of texture you want for your personal pecan pie experience.
