1. Roast Chicken
The first and most obvious thing to do if you have some chicken and you have an oven is to place the chicken in the oven, and then bake! This is a classic meal simply because of how hearty it is and how warming.
Now a good roast dinner does take a little work and timing though. So how do you do this perfectly?
First, take your whole chicken and lightly baste it in oil. Add a little seasoning such as salt and pepper, and then place it in the oven on about 180-200C. This should take about 40-90 minutes to cook depending on the size and weight of your chicken as well as your oven. Read the guidelines on the packaging for advice on this. Cover with foil and then remove toward the end to crisp it up.
Meanwhile, you can opt to either boil or roast your veg. If you choose to roast then follow the advice in our two other traybake recipes. To boil, just time correctly and add to a pan of boiling water once chopped into small pieces.
The most important part of your chicken roast though will be the potatoes. To get these right, cut the potatoes small and then boil them for 5 minutes or so to make them soft and fluffy. Now liberally apply oil and add to the oven.
