Going all out at Halloween is huge fun. While Halloween might not be quite as much of a family affair as Christmas, and while it isn’t quite as potentially profitable as a birthday, it’s actually one of the most exciting holidays because of how creative you can be.
Some people will decide to let Halloween pass by without much fanfare. But others will lean into the craziness and turn their entire home into a sinister lair filled with shocks and horrors. Once you start, it’s easy to see more and more exciting opportunities! Kids love the excitement but adults have just as much fun tapping into their creativity and making some truly shocking sights.
And one of the best ways to express this Halloween creativity is in the kitchen. There are plenty of amazing food ideas that you can use to make your Halloween scary and delicious. In this post, we’re going to count down 15 of the very most exciting and original.
1. Eyeballs
This one is pretty much what it says on the tin. You can turn a whole lot of grapes into eyeballs, simply by peeling them gradually backward and then inserting a blueberry – orbit of a blueberry. This is going to serve as your iris and in order to get it to work, you’ll need to first carve out a small hole for it. The peeling gives the grapes a veiny look, and you can always use some food dye or a food pen in order to add some red veins or blood toward the back too.
Do this several times over (the things you do for your kids) and you can fill a bowl with terrifying eyeballs. Their numerous nature makes them look a little like frog spawn too. Better yet, put them inside some red jelly and they’ll be suspended, looking out desperately.
The great thing about this though is that having made eyeballs, you can now use them to decorate a range of other things – acting as the eyes for all kinds of creatures and sinister creations!
Better yet? It’s very healthy as well!
