3. Mexican Tuna Steak with Avocado Salsa
Staying south of the border, this recipe for Mexican tuna steak includes Latin-American spices that offer a flavor explosion.
INGREDIENTS – Peppers
3-tablespoons extra-virgin coconut oil.
1-red pepper, sliced.
1-red onion – sliced.
1-clove diced garlic.
⅔-teaspoon smoked paprika.
⅔-teaspoon cumin powder.
1-tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar.
A pinch of red chili flakes.
INGREDIENTS – Tuna steaks
2 x 6-oz. Blue-fin tuna steaks.
1-tablespoon grass-fed butter.
1-tablespoons coconut oil.
1-teaspoon coriander seeds.
1-lime – halved for juicing.
Crushed Himalayan pink salt and cracked black pepper.
INGREDIENTS – Avocado
1-avocado, pitted and sliced.
2-tablespoons chopped coriander.
The juice of a ½-a lime.
METHOD
Season the steaks with salt and pepper, then coat with olive oil on both sides. Heat 3-tablespoons of coconut oil in a skillet and add the onions, as well as the peppers – then cover with the lid and cook for 4-minutes.
Add the paprika, garlic, chili, cumin, vinegar and a pinch of salt – cook for another 4-minutes. Remove from the heat and plate to cool.
