4. Shape the Cupcake
Round cupcakes are boring. Improve the visual of your tasty treats by using a shaped mold. Today’s kitchen apparel companies make cupcake-molds in a variety of different shapes and sizes. From animals to hearts, there are dozens of different configurations for you to try. Don’t be afraid to buy a silicone mold. While it may look like plastic, but silicone is a temperature-resistant material.
A silicone mold won’t melt in the oven, and it won’t leach harmful toxins into your cupcakes. As a bonus, it’s super-easy to press the muffins from the mold after they’re finished baking. Silicone molds are also dishwasher-safe, making clean up a breeze.
If you can’t find a silicone mold you like, you can always use this simple trick to make heart-shaped cupcakes from traditional cupcake cups. Take some aluminum foil and shape it around a cupcake cup. Fold in the edge into a heart-shape and then pour in your muffin mix.
