3. Apple Tarts with Caramelized Onion
After the turkey is done and dusted, there’s always room for dessert. This recipe for apple tarts with caramelized onion is a taste sensation that will offset the gourmet taste with a savory snack that borderline unbelievable. These tarts are so good you can even serve them as a light starter before you carve the bird.
INGREDIENTS
2-sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed.
2-red apples, peeled, cored and seeded.
2-medium onions, sliced.
2-tablespoons coconut oil.
Crushed Himalayan pink salt and cracked black pepper
½-cup crème Fraiche.
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 400F. Place a skillet over medium heat and add the oil. Toss in the onions and cook until golden brown. Stir in the apples along with ½-teaspoon salt, and ½-teaspoon pepper and cook until tender.
Place the pastry sheets on a wax paper-lined baking tray and prick the surface with a fork all over. Spread the crème Fraiche over leaving a 1-inch border. Top with the onion and apple mixture and bake for 30 to 35-minutes until the pastry turns golden brown. Cut into pieces and serve.
