3. Salt – The Magic Ingredient
Walk into the kitchen of any 5-star restaurant, and you’ll find chefs busy completing various tasks. If you wander over to the meat prep area, it may shock you to see how much salt they use to season the meat. We’re not talking about a pinch here or there, the pro’s use near handfuls of the stuff to bring out the flavor in the ingredients.
Fortunately, recent discoveries in nutritional science unveiled the fact that sodium isn’t bad for you. Sodium comes in two different forms – unencumbered and encumbered. Encumbered sodium, such as the MSG in potato chips is harmful to your health in high doses.
However, unencumbered salt – like crushed Himalayan pink salt is healthy for you. It turns out we need salt to manage the mineral balance in our bodies. Without sodium, we would develop seizures. Don’t forget to salt your meat liberally, and it brings out the flavor – without it your sauce tastes bland.
