If it has been a while since you have really gone through your spice drawer in detail, you may find some surprises there that can help save your sauce and make it a culinary sensation rather than just another night of pasta and sauce. If you like to add a spicy accent to your sauce, such as cayenne, siracha, or harissa. If you like a smoky flavor, try chipotle (which is also a bit spicy), smoky paprika or liquid smoke. For a sweet taste, try roasted peppers. Think about adding some spices you haven’t used in a while, like thyme, rosemary and bouquet garni, depending on the type of flavor you are trying to create.
