Apple and cinnamon are a match made in heaven. This particular idea is like combining two of our favorite desserts, apple pie, and bread pudding, into one. Creamy, rich, and decadent, full of that deliciously aromatic flavor of apples, we’d be hard-pressed not to go for seconds. You can choose a baking apple such as Granny Smith since its tart and intense flavor makes for the perfect foil to the creamy and sweet bread pudding.
It also holds its texture very well and doesn’t easily become mealy. Other favorites for baking include Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, Honey Crisp, and even Fuji which are known for their intensely fruity apple flavor. The variety doesn’t just stop there as there are several different types of cinnamon (Ceylon, Chinese, Indonesian, etc.) as well, each with their own unique flavor profile, so try them all and decide on which one you like the best.
