3. Preparation
It is important to prepare the prime rib properly before you even start cooking it. Taking your time to do it the right way will make your prime rib taste better and prevent any cooking errors that could ruin it.
One of the most important parts of the preparation process is letting the prime rib come to room temperature before you put it in the oven. You don’t want the meat to be warm to touch or to sit out too long, but you also don’t want to put it in the oven while it’s still cold. Waiting on the prime rib to come to room temperature will allow it to roast better and cook properly.
While you are waiting, you can go ahead and season the meat. Make sure you cover it so insects or dirt can’t get on it while it is coming to temperature. It should only take a few minutes.
