4 Cream and Strawberries
Cream and strawberries are classic accompaniments for shortbread and work particularly well in this combo. You can serve this up in a variety of ways. Either dip the shortbread into the cream, pour it over, or leave it on the side in a bowl. Likewise, you can either provide the strawberries on the side separately so that people can help themselves, or you can chop them up nice and small and scatter them on top. Either way, this is another combination that feels quite sophisticated, and the sweetness of the strawberries does a great job to offset the slightly dry shortbread – sometimes even letting the juice run into the mixture.
Strawberries go with a variety of things in fact, and another great option is to add the strawberries with dark melted chocolate. And why stop at strawberries? Blueberries, raspberries, and cherries all work really well too!
