5. Crispy Churros
What you need:
- 1 cup and an additional 2 tbsp of flour
- 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 cup of water
- 2 tbsp of brown sugar
- 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
- Dash of salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup of sugar
- 6 cups of oil
To make:
Start out by heating the six cups of oil in a large pan. While the oil is heating mix the flour and a tsp of cinnamon together and set aside. Mix the water, sugar, vegetable oil, and a dash of salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until it boils. Once it starts to boil, add in the flour mixture. Stir in quickly. Mix until flour is fully absorbed. Transfer the ball of dough to a mixer and beat on medium speed. Add in one of the eggs. Beat until incorporated. Add the other egg. Beat until smooth. Fill a pastry bag with the dough. Cover a baking sheet with paper towels. When the oil has reached 350 degrees, squirt the dough into the oil creating 4 inch long strips. Fry until brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels. Serve with cinnamon sugar topping.
