When you cook your pasta, keep a cup or at least of half a cup of water. Pasta water helps create a creamy texture, intensifies the flavor of the ingredients and even helps the sauce adhere to the pasta. One way to preserve the pasta water is to remove the pasta with tongs rather than with a strainer that causes the water to pour down the drain. Alternatively, you can put a strainer in a bowl to catch the water and pour the cooked pasta into it.
