4. Pesto and Popcorn
Once you try pesto with popcorn, you may wonder why you never thought about it before. Of course it is traditional to serve popcorn with butter or oil, even if it is air-popped, but of course, this adds extra fat and calories.
Even though pesto contains oil, it has sufficient flavoring that requires less oil and coheres to the surface of food better than powdered seasonings. Parmesan cheese is a popular seasoning for popcorn, but the problem is that it often slides to the bottom of the bowl and doesn’t stick to the popcorn.
If you toss your popcorn with a tablespoon or two of pesto and then sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on top, the cheese will cohere much more effectively. Use as much or as little pesto as you want, since a little of this piquant flavoring can go a long way.
