4. Honey Walnut Baklava
What you need:
- 4 cups of chopped walnuts
- 2 ½ ounces of sugar
- Tsp of cinnamon
- A pound of phyllo dough
- 1 ¾ sticks of butter, melted
- A 12 oz jar of honey
To make:
In a bowl, mix the nuts, sugar, and the cinnamon together. Set aside. Remove the dough from the package and unroll. Trim to fit into a 9 x 13 baking pan. Brush pan with melted butter and then place a piece of dough in the bottom. Top with butter. Add a layer of the nut mixture. Repeat the layers until all the phyllo dough is used, about 5 to six layers. Use a knife to cut all the way through the layers to create squares. Bake in a 300 degree oven for about 90 minutes or until the top is a golden brown in color. Take out of the oven. Heat the honey until it is hot and then spoon it over the baklava when it comes out of the oven. Cool on a baking rat and serve.
