4. Classic Shepherd’s Pie
What you need:
Tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion chopped
2 cloves minced garlic
Tsp dried thyme
Tsp rosemary
Tsp salt
Tsp pepper
1 lb ground beef
4 tsp flour
¼ cup ketchup
¾ cup tomato juice
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp dijon mustard
A cup of frozen mixed vegetables
3 cups cooked mashed potatoes
2 tbsp butter
A clove of minced garlic
⅔ cup warm milk
To make:
Heat the oil in a skillet, add in the onion, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for five to seven minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Crumble the meat into the pan and cook until no longer pink. Sprinkle with the flour. Stir in the tomato juice, ketchup,
Worcestershire sauce, and the mustard. Simmer for about 4 minutes. Add in the mixed vegetables. Transfer mixture to a 9-inch baking dish. Whip the potatoes with the warm milk, butter, garlic, salt, and pepper. Spread the potatoes over the meat mixture. Bake for 35 minutes, or until the potatoes are browned.
