The most common choices are blanched slivers and raw sliced.
But why be boring? Try roasted and salted for a little kick or even barbeque flavor for a lot of zip. For just a trace of almond, add a teaspoon of almond extract and sprinkle some almonds on the top along with some powdered sugar. For bigger almond flavor, fold in a quarter cup of finely ground almonds or substitute half a cup of almond flour for the regular flour.
