3. Chocolate
Chocolate, vanilla, and strawberries are the three top flavors for ice cream and frosting. There are so many choices for how to give a chocolate taste to your buttercream frosting, but experts often disagree on what is the best method. Some suggest mashing cocoa powder along with the butter and sugar when you make the frosting. Others may recommend pouring chocolate syrup onto the frosting and mixing it after it is made.
For an extra kick, try adding chocolate liqueur to your frosting along with syrup or powder. Some feel that syrup creates a smoother chocolate taste, but if the powder is well-blended, it shouldn’t make a difference. Chocolate goes well with other flavors, such as orange, hazelnut, and almond. After making your chocolate frosting, experiment with added flavors. For double chocolate frosting, add chocolate chips to your chocolate frosting. You can also scrape some chocolate flakes onto your icing for a unique touch.
