4. Hazelnut
Hazelnut frosting is an elegant touch to white or chocolate cake. The popularity of Nutella spread shows how well hazelnut and chocolate go together. You may be tempted to spread Nutella directly onto your cooled cake, but it may tear the cake, may have too intense a flavor and not have the desired texture or thickness of frosting.
Try mixing Nutella with equal parts of the plate if you wish, but you can also add hazelnut butter to chocolate buttercream frosting. You might also find hazelnut extract along with almond extract at your supermarket, but nut butter blends smoothly into the frosting and add natural flavor. For an extra touch, add some crushed hazelnuts to your frosting or garnish your frosted cakes with halved or pieces of hazelnuts.
