4. Prove
You are then going to use some oil to grease a larger bowl, add the dough into the bowl, and turn it in order to coat it with the oil. Cover all of this in clingfilm, and then leave it in a warm place for one hour until it has doubled in size.
This is proving, the process that allows the yeast to do its job and cause your mixture to rise. Keep in mind that this process must be left undisturbed, so try to resist the urge to continually check on it by removing the clingfilm. Likewise, it’s important that you choose the right spot to prove – this should be somewhere dark such as the inside of a cupboard, or the inside of the oven when it isn’t being used. It should be twice the size it was when you began after an hour. In that time, why not go away and enjoy a nice cup of tea and a TV show, you have earned it after all!
Knead in a tabletop mixer with a dough hook if you find that easier and get ready for the next step.
