5. Handmade egg noodles are easy and delicious
Why buy egg noodles when you can make them at home? They might not look as pretty as the store-bought ones, but we feel that they taste much better. Springy, eggy, and addictive, once you start making these you’ll wonder why you ever bothered to buy them in the first place, especially since you most likely have these ingredients in your pantry already.
It’s important to allow the dough to rest so it can relax. The wheat-based dough can become very tight and snappy after the formation of the gluten, making it hard to roll out and cut. The resting process allows the dough to soften so that it can be worked with more easily.
Ingredients
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons whole milk
1 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for kneading.
1. Combine all the ingredients in a food mixer, and set to knead for 8 – 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can do this by hand on a well-floured surface.
2. Allow to rest for 20 minutes, then flatten out and cut into strips. You can boil them to cook or you can saute them in a little butter and water.
