5. Separating the Leaves
One of the biggest challenges in making a stuffed cabbage leaf recipe – is removing the leaves. Most people that try this task end up breaking the leaves, ruining their wrapping potential. De-leafing a cabbage shouldn’t have to require so much effort.
Try out these hacks for de-leafing the next time you find yourself struggling with the exercise.
Our first tip is to freeze the cabbage overnight, then leave it out in the morning to thaw. The freezing process draws the water out of the leaf, and when it melts, the water drains away, making it easy to separate the leaves – they fall off with hardly any effort required.
If you don’t have that kind of time, try this method instead. Place the cabbage in a pot of boiling water for 25-second intervals and use a set of tongs to remove the leaves. Repeat until you have captured all of the leaves.
