4. No Pesticides or Harmful Chemicals
With the global population soaring, there’s ever-increasing pressure on food demand. As a result, farmers can’t afford to have their crops fail. Industrial agriculture uses pesticides to control insects and increase production. Farmers spray these toxic substances over the fruit and vegetables using crop-dusting methods or adding chemicals to the water supply.
As a result, the vegetables and fruit absorb traces of these chemicals which end up in the final food products. Apples are among the most heavily sprayed fruits available. Unless you wash the surface of an apple before eating it, the chances are that you’re consuming traces of these pesticides.
Organic farms use no pesticides or chemically-enhanced fertilizer. To meet organic standards, farmers need to use only approved pesticides that have no harmful effects on human health. The result is a non-toxic food that’s safe for the health of you and your children.
Meat and milk products suffer a similar fate. Farmers feed dairy cows antibiotics and hormones to boost production and prevent disease in the livestock. Organic dairy farmers use none of these unethical and dangerous practices.
