Coconut, much like kale and avocado, is enjoying a lot of time in the limelight right now. This is a simple ingredient that has been around for a very long time, but that is currently garnering a lot of love over on Instagram due to its health benefits and many different uses.
But have you heard about baking with coconut flour? Proving just how versatile the humble coconut really is, this is one more excellent way to make use of it.
Coconut flour is an excellent option for anyone who is trying to avoid regular flour. It is gluten-free, it is grain-free, and it is absolutely packed with fiber, protein, and iron. It also works really well because it attracts and absorbs water and fat. This helps to keep gluten-free baked goods more moist – something that can be a bit of a challenge.
Coconut flour receipts do use a lot of eggs, but if you want to reduce the calories or if you’re avoiding eggs too, then there are plenty of useful substitutes (chia seed, arrowroot etc.).
With all that in mind, you are probably curious and eager to get into the kitchen and to start experimenting with this interesting and highly useful ingredient. Read on then to get started baking with coconut flour!
