4. No-knead Crock Pot Bread
Not only do you not need to knead this bread – you get to have it baked to perfect golden perfection in the Crock-Pot! If you’re one of the many people who doesn’t use the Crock Pot for breads and puddings, after trying this recipe, that’s bound to change. Here’s the very short list of ingredients you’ll need, other than cooking spray: 1 ½ cups lukewarm water, 1 packet granulated yeast, ¾ teaspoon coarse salt and 3 ¼ c all-purpose white flour (unsifted). You really can’t go wrong with this recipe. If you like, add cheese, bacon or any seasoning you prefer.
To mix the dough, warm the 1 ½ cups of water to around 100°F before adding the yeast and salt to it – this will mean your rising time will be 2 hours. If you use cold water, it will be about 5 hours. Add in the yeast and salt and stir it all. Don’t worry if the yeast and salt haven’t dissolved properly – add in the flour and stir all at once. You could also use dough hooks if you have a processor. Even by hand, everything mixes together very well quite quickly. Now place the dough in a bowl, cover with cling film and allow it to rest at room temperature for 2 hours or longer if you used cold water. For the best results after this, place it in the fridge for 3 hours before shaping it into a loaf or rolls.
Spray the bottom of your Crock-Pot and place the balls or loaf at the bottom. Allow to rest for 40 minutes, then turn on high and cook for 2,5 hours. You’ll have perfectly golden home-baked bread!
